He is unhappy that Sarawak has one full minister less in the federal cabinet.
However, he said Najib had his reasons for doing so and the decision must be respected.
Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas stepped down as Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister to contest in the recent state election before he was eventually appointed as a deputy chief minister.
Prior to the federal cabinet reshuffle, there was speculation that the post vacated by Uggah would be filled by another Sarawakian.
At the same time, Awang Tengah was happy over Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong’s appointment as Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Deputy Minister, pointing out that this is the first time that a Lun Bawang is in the federal cabinet.
Awang Tengah was speaking to reporters during the combined breaking of fast and ‘ngiling tikai’ ceremony at Imperial Hotel on Monday night with the Ministry of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development, Trade and Investment (Mieti).
Also present were Assistant Minister for Industrial Development (Investment and Promotion) Datuk Julaihi Narawi, Mieti permanent secretary Datu Liaw Soon Eng, and its Recreation and Sports Club president Walter Samuel Nangar.
A total of 212 people comprising officers and their family members attended the event.
