Proposed Sarawak to develop Gas-To-Liquid plant ( similar to SMDS) at Miri (Kuala Baram). The gas can be sourced from Bardegg II, there is a gas well in front of Batu 1/MCOT, CERI1.
It is anticipated to provide 5000 jobs during development phase and 1000 jobs during operational phase. Shell is proposing this project at Sipitang, Sabah. Sabah dont have gas but Sarawak has.
Need to diversify the downstream activities out of Bintulu. With this GTL projects in Miri, we can also develop the Kuala Baram deepsea port.
