MIRI: The Sarawak delegation to China International Fair For Investment And Trade (Cifit) in Xiamen, Fujian Province of China visited Hengan paper mill in Jinjiang City on Wednesday.
The delegation was led by Minister of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development, Trade and Investment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
Awang Tengah represented Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem for the official visit at the invitation
of the Fujian Provincial Government. The delegation was in Xiamen to meet with Liang Jianyong, vice-governor of Fujian Province.
They spoke for an hour on a wide range of topics, including the proposed sister state relationship and also enhancing trade and investment between Sarawak and Fujian Province.
Together, they identified anchor companies to invest in selected industries in Sarawak, such as high-tech electronics, energy intensive, halal and food industries, shipbuilding and real estate development. They also discussed government-to-government (G-to-G) bilateral relationships.
Among those present at the meeting were Assistant Minister for Resource Planning Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais and Assistant Minister for Rural Economy (Coastal Areas) and Fisheries Datuk Julaihi Narawi, Ministry of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development, Trade and Investment permanent secretary Datu Liaw Soon Eng, Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation general manager Datu Sarudu Hoklai and KTS Group of Companies managing director Dato Henry Lau Lee Kong.
